Embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery with individual and group counseling services at Healing Pathways.

Welcome to Healing Pathways!
Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all, and we get it—especially if you’ve tried talk therapy before and felt like it didn’t help, attempted EMDR once and had a rough experience, or are currently in therapy but aren’t seeing the progress you hoped for. At Healing Pathways, we specialize in guiding adults through meaningful, lasting healing from both Big T Traumas and Small T Traumas.
-
Big T Traumas: Life-altering events like physical or sexual assault, domestic violence, severe accidents, or natural disasters that shake your sense of safety.
-
Small T Traumas: Subtle but impactful experiences such as emotional neglect, ongoing verbal abuse, or feeling unseen or invalidated over time.
Both can leave lasting effects on your emotional and psychological well-being. To learn more about Big T and Little T Traumas, click here
Why Healing Pathways is Different...
We use evidence-based, culturally informed approaches to help you heal at your pace. Our focus is on personalized care tailored to your experiences, your pace, and your goals—not a cookie-cutter method that may have left you frustrated in the past. We guide you through your journey toward healing, resilience, and a sense of peace.
Adjunctive EMDR
If you’re currently in talk therapy but feel stuck, or have had a challenging EMDR experience in the past, Adjunctive EMDR may be a great option. This approach allows you to supplement your existing therapy with EMDR sessions, giving you additional tools for healing while maintaining continuity with your current therapist. At Healing Pathways, we provide support for both clients and therapists throughout this process, ensuring a collaborative, safe, and effective experience.
Big T Traumas
We provide specialized care for serious, life-altering events, including: Domestic Violence Sexual Violence Sudden traumatic death of a loved one Racial Trauma PTSD related to these experiences Our trauma-informed therapists create a safe space to process these experiences, regain a sense of control, and begin rebuilding confidence and stability.
EMDR Intensives
For adults seeking focused, accelerated healing, we offer EMDR Intensives—short, structured sessions designed to address trauma more intensively than weekly therapy alone. Each intensive begins with a 30-minute consultation with the therapist who will guide your sessions, ensuring the process is personalized to your needs. Interested in learning more? Reach out to schedule your consultation and explore whether an EMDR Intensive is right for you.
Art Therapy
Healing doesn’t have to rely on words alone. At Healing Pathways, we offer Art Therapy as an additional pathway to self-expression and processing trauma. Art Therapy can be supplemented alongside talk therapy to help you explore emotions visually, gain new insights, and release experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Whether used as a standalone approach or in combination with your current therapy, it offers another route toward clarity, healing, and emotional growth.
Attachment Wounds & Developmental Trauma
Our clinicians feel confident assisting their clients in addressing attachment wounds and developmental traumas with empathy and understanding. We recognize that not all traumas are "big T" traumas, and everyone deserves a safe space to unpack how past experiences have shaped current behaviors, tendencies, and relationships. We are dedicated to guiding you through this healing journey, helping you foster healthier relationships and find greater peace within yourself.
Domestic & Sexual Violence
We understand that the effects of domestic and sexual violence can be pervasive and distressing, and we are dedicated to creating an environment where survivors can process their experiences in a healthy and safe way. Our clinicians are honored to walk the healing journey alongside our clients and take the trust placed in them very seriously.
Modalities
In the context of therapy, a modality refers to a specific method or approach used by therapists to treat clients. It encompasses the theories, techniques, and strategies employed to promote mental well-being.
Different modalities cater to various needs and preferences of clients, allowing for more tailored treatment plans. The approaches we use at Healing Pathways include EMDR, Prolonged Exposure, Trauma Incident Reduction, Art Therapy, and Traditional Talk Therapy.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a powerful approach we utilize to help individuals process past traumatic experiences. Our trained therapists guide you through this evidence-based technique, facilitating the reprocessing of distressing memories, leading to resolution and relief. Experience the transformative benefits of EMDR alongside a certified clinician who prioritizes your well-being and recovery.
ꕤ EMDR Therapy Sessions
Standard EMDR therapy sessions follow a traditional, weekly or bi-weekly therapy format. These sessions allow time to build a strong therapeutic relationship, gather history, develop coping skills, and gradually process traumatic or distressing experiences using EMDR at a pace that feels safe and sustainable.
This option is often a good fit for clients who want ongoing support, benefit from consistent structure, or are early in their healing journey. EMDR may not begin immediately, as early sessions focus on stabilization, preparation, and ensuring readiness for trauma processing.
ꕤ EMDR Intensives
EMDR Intensives offer a more concentrated approach to trauma processing by providing extended sessions over a shorter period of time. Instead of spreading EMDR work across months, intensives allow clients to engage in deeper processing within one or several longer sessions.
This option can be helpful for clients who feel ready for focused trauma work, have limited availability for weekly therapy, or are seeking momentum after feeling “stuck” in traditional therapy. While intensives are structured and supportive, they still include preparation, resourcing, and integration to promote emotional safety and stability. Individuals interested in EMDR intensives will be offered an extended consultation to plan your personalized sessions.

ꕤWhich Option Is Right for You?
Both approaches use the same evidence-based EMDR framework—the difference lies in pace, structure, and time commitment. During a consultation, we’ll help determine whether standard EMDR sessions or an intensive format is the best fit based on your history, goals, readiness, and support needs.
Healing is not one-size-fits-all, and we’re committed to meeting you where you are.
Prolonged Exposure
Prolonged Exposure Therapy is one of the few specialized approaches we employ to address past traumas. Through structured sessions, our certified clinician guides you gently through confronting and processing distressing memories, empowering you to overcome avoidance and reclaim control over your life.
Trauma Incident Reduction
Trauma Incident Reduction (TIR) Therapy offers a powerful pathway to healing from past traumas. Through a structured and empathetic approach, TIR helps individuals confront and resolve traumatic experiences in a safe and supportive environment. By revisiting and processing these incidents in a controlled setting, clients often experience profound breakthroughs, leading to emotional liberation, cognitive clarity, empowerment, resilience, and restored wellbeing.
Art Therapy
Incorporating the transformative power of art, our practice offers art therapy as a modality for healing and self-expression. Through the creative process, clients can explore emotions, confront challenges, and discover new insights in a non-verbal and deeply personal way. Guided by our skilled art therapist Sonia Patricia Varela, this unique approach fosters growth, resilience, and a deeper connection to one's inner world.
Traditional Talk Therapy
Our practice offers traditional Talk Therapy as a foundational modality for exploring and processing thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a supportive environment. Through open dialogue and active listening, our therapists collaborate with clients to navigate challenges, gain clarity, and cultivate positive change. With a focus on empathy and understanding, talk therapy empowers individuals to build resilience and live more authentically.
